On chivalry and @$$h0l3s

I was on a regular commute yesterday to school, was comfortably seated at the back of the driver's seat and I was just sound tripping to some random playlist on Spotify. As the bus traveled from Los BaƱos to Calamba, a tall, dark, well-built, and modest looking guy with a shirt saying that he comes from a government institution sat beside me. Was a little bit pleased to have a bit of an eye candy on a seemingly regular trip to the metro. Nothing extraordinary happened, he slept, I continued to let my thoughts fly etc.  Now, the bus really started to get jam-packed as it stopped in the last station before doing a non-stop run towards the expressway. This is where an old lady got in; and since everyone was standing already, the driver's assistant had her sit in front--on that part of the bus where they put the machine underneath. Not a comfortable position for a lady that is probably in her late 70's or early 80's.  I was comfortably seated on my favorite wind...

Eena's wedding portfolio

Image
If ever I get fired from my teaching job or if ever this electrical engineering career does not work out, I would probably become an events planner/ coordinator. It is a recent reflection that I have been involved in quite a number of weddings these past few years... especially these past few months. So before I forget and before I loose count, let me recall and share the weddings that I have been involved with. I am doing this (posting this blog entry and the weddings per se) just for fun. Photo credits to the facebook accounts of the couples or whoever took them. Wedding Number 1: Wena and Alfred Overall Vibe: A family-church-community Ceremony: Los Banos Christian Reformed Church Reception: Senior Social Garden Involvement: Over-all on the day coordinator Date: Sometime 2008, 2009 or 2010 yata Wedding Number 2: Em and Joel Overall Vibe: Beach-boho-castaway This was a super fun experience... It had to be a bridal boat (in lieu of the usual bridal car)... ...

On a roll- the ballistic month of January

Image
My life has been a little bit ballistic as soon as January 1 kicked kicked in. The month of January literally just passed by without me noticing that its February already (the love months--ack!) Excited as I was to go home to cuddle snuggle with my dogs that day, I wasn't able to do anything but go through with the patience-trying challenges of a 33 hour domestic flight delay. If I wrote this entry a day after I got home from the delay, I would have written bashful thoughts about the airlines and everything that went on around it. However, as I look back now, the Lord gave me nothing but grace.  The hotel I stayed in gave me an unsolicited 25% discount (it was a 2 minute walk away from the airport-- so it was a super great deal). Come January 2, the morning the airlines said we'd be on a bogus 'special flight' back to Manila...  I earned an airport friend (as we lost touch the moment we went our separate planes) while waiting, jumping transports to Cebu, c...

Leaps

Jumped off a few cliffs after this semester ended. Sunday School - If the second semester starts, Saturday will be the only day when I won't be teaching. I have been given the privilege and the wonderful task of teaching Sunday School at Church until December. The Christian Education department gave me the Intermediate (10-12 y.o.) class for girls. The director told me that it was originally a co-ed class. But, since the boys LOVED wrestling and pestering the girls more than any other activity, she had to separate the girls from them. My first preparation was a bit of an adjustment because I had to prepare visual aids, treats and a lot of interactive stuff. It was tedious and fun all at the same time. We are currently studying about Elijah, and the lessons are becoming true to my life lately.  Scholarship applications- one was sent to Sweden, and the other to the Netherlands. There might be a few kilig moments along the way; when I asked a former boss who is ...

Just dumping a few words... I have been writing less and less these past few months, mainly because I was busy, I was trying to be careful with what I write (apparently because I learned that some of my students find it worthwhile to read this blog) and I was am really a bit of a wreck. So, before I try to do anything else futile today (at 1542H) I guess I'd better write pour out my thoughts or whatever you call them--the mess inside my head. Teaching is still the main event of my day-to-day life. I was able to squeeze in a trip to Bacolod and Ilocos last August. My solo trip to Bacolod was quite an adventure. I was able to trace my roots, find a long lost friend, rekindle close friendships, acquire ALOT of unsolicited wedding advice (which was really fun-- even if I don't need it at the moment) and i almost got myself killed searching for an adventure. The trip to Ilocos was quite the opposite of Bacolod. I was with a group of students and colleagues, the env...

June-July-August

Image
It is Saturday and I am in the office, I just finished checking the manuscripts of my students and I am semi-wasting my time on the internet trying to figure out what the hell to do with my life (So much for social life and exposing myself to other people). I am guilty at not updating my blog recently, no valid excuse on that, despite the updates that I should have placed here. Teaching, or life in general, has been good to me since this semester (1st Sem AY2013-2014) started. I am currently in my longest running job (hopefully a career if I get my Master's sometime soon) and I am sort of good here for the time being. The Lord has been teaching me to be satisfied, content, happy and at the same time hopeful of the future.  I've been trying my hand at different things; like a couple of new subjects to teach (Linear Systems Analysis and Electrical Machines-laboratory), a new career prospect, and a couple of new physical activities that people who know me very well would th...
