DAY30: a very happy girl today

Image
Finally! I thank God for the awesome year that He has given me, it was definitely worth the wait of the 30-day countdown. If some of you were wondering why I'm doing all this DAY-ish something posts, its because I'm doing a countdown for my birthday, just to get me excited and for the conceited purposes of announcing it. Happy girl, am a very happy girl today.  Woke up early and had a tapa breakfast and brewed coffee with my roommate, went to work did some useless cramming on our documents and got surprised when one of my electricians came in the office with a big cake. My electrical team gave me a cake! I am deeply touched by the gesture. See they are workers; I understand that it is very unpractical for them to buy such a thing, and them buying it was very very touching.  Two things I realized from this cake.   1. That I am already an Engr. (this is my first cake with an Engineer in it) 2. and that somehow I am doing things right in terms of treatin...

DAY29:my second GRAY HAIR and DAY28: Rain

Image
DAY29: my second GRAY HAIR The first one was removed by a curious friend. This one came up after a year of working in the construction industry, I think this is gonna be the first one of many more to come. Hopefully it will bring more wisdom as it comes... I'd like to think that this gray hair is a sign that I am gaining more wisdom albeit the stress it brings along.  DAY28: rain I am thankful for the rain that came late last night; it was a refreshing one excited na for tomorrow! :)

DAY27: Electrical Engineering

Image
May 16 2011 first day of work in this crazy industry called construction I am thankful that I got into this profession and that I got into this company exactly a year ago. It has been an enriching experience; there might be heartaches and heartbreaks on the side... But the happy things exceed all of it.  I've gained a lot of new friends, experienced a lot of new things, gained a lot of new insights, gained weight and I've been very happy in general. This year was an adventure that I'm glad I didn't miss.

DAY26:Lymphatic, Endomorph

Image
Lymphatic body types gain weight all over the body , and have a cuddly baby doll appearance. Weight gain occurs very easily because lymphatic types have a very low metabolic rate . They also have a dysfunctional lymphatic system resulting in generalised fluid retention, which makes them look fatter than they are . They are prone to deposits of fat swollen with lymphatic fluid, which can cause severe cellulite . This type of cellulite gives them thick puffy limbs so that it is hard to see their bone structure. They often avoid exercise and crave dairy products , both of which will exacerbate their cellulite. Often chubby since childhood , the lymphatic-shaped woman gains weight evenly all over- like Roseanne or Oprah. She craves dairy products and salty foods. Soft, cuddly, and often a couch potato, she just hates to exercise!  ( see here to know your body type ) This is my body type; since I cannot do (or afford) anything to change it, I'd rather be thankful for it ...

DAY25: Club Pasilyo, DAY24: Nanay, DAY23: being a Filipino & DAY22: new friends

Image
Got too comfortable in a land of smiles, milk, dreams and honey.. it was sheer love and happiness. DAY25: Club Pasilyo Hahaha! The perks of being an engineer: I get to be one of the firsts to use the pool that we are building.. :P I was supposed to go straight home after work, but after seeing the pool and an office mate already doing laps in it... it was game over. All of us immediately dipped in the beautiful pool with changing lights. It was such a stress reliever after work. Buy na a unit at our condo complex! we have a great pool! :D hihihihi (and I was the boss of sorts with the electrical stuff so you get to remember me when you see the pool lights and stuff).   DAY24: Nanay I thank the Lord for nanay who brought me out of this world and gave me so much things that I could never ever pay back. Unconditional love, patience, generosity, time DAY23: being a Filipino Ako ay Pilipino at nagpapasalamat ako sa Diyos na ako ay isang Pilipino. Isang pagpapa...

DAY20: MERALCO yellow card & DAY21: network/ sphere of influence

Image
DAY20: MERALCO... for the Yellow Card For all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams (hahaha), am still is thankful to MERALCO for Day20 because they gave me the yellow card for my project. Though its not yet the final stage, its konti na lang before my application finally gets done. The MERALCO yellow card made me a happy girl today Leaving would be a little less stressful now... DAY21: Network/ Sphere of Influence It was my first time to sit down and perform this "family tree" activity; due to time constraints, I basically just doodled whatever it is that came first in my mind. The mechanics is to simply draw five concentric circles, put your name at the center, the names of your immediate family at the next circle, names of household on the next, relatives next and affiliations on the last one. I've realized that if only I had more time and more sipag to do this, a single sheet of A4 paper would not be enough for all the people I have dealt w...

DAY19: bright ideas

Image
I am thankful to God for giving me bright ideas every now and then. Excited much on doing a bit of an eccentric yet community service-y project with some friends from college. It is supposed to be inspired by Candy Chang ( see her website here ), and it will be executed by us. If president Obama's speech writer wrote his brilliant speech in a starbucks coffee shop, us friends crafted this idea on a facebook thread. Wonderful isn't it? Should be writing about the realization of the said idea soon. :)

DAY18: Church

Image
Photos grabbed from the victory Alabang website. Boy I'm glad I went to church today. I went house hunting with friends around the Mandaluyong area and the sun did not spare us from his wrath. We started with high hopes, but ended up defeated because we were not able to find a place to stay. It was very hot, sweaty and tiring. I was actually planning to skip church and go straight home to rest; but, I rode the bus to Alabang upon impulse and decided to go to church anyway since I'll be able to catch their 6pm service. A cool lemonade on a hot, sweaty and tiring day. That was church today. It was refreshing... it quenched my drenched soul... I was refreshed with the following tidbits during service: my God is a personal God, He loved a wretched one like me, and He is very much interested in me not my will, but the Lord's will the ways of God are 1000 times more pleasing than the ways of this world (so its ok if I do not understand some of the ways of th...

DAY17: Ate Czarina and DAY 16: my grown up bed

Image
Immediately dropped in bed when I arrived home yester-night (thus the late post), been too tired even to lift a finger. DAY17: Ate Czarina Ate Czarina is my roommate, she was my former BS leader, I come to her for advice—she gives me a lot of it and I am privileged to have known her. -                    Today, I woke up to the sound of her doing her laundry in the bathroom.            I greeted her good morning.            She replied good morning as well.            Then she said… MAGBOYFRIEND KA NA. (in the freakin morning!)            And that’s when I died. She always tells me that I should be in a relationship already and that I am too old for not having one; and every time she does—I die. By this time, I am well aware that I can do some things better than o...

DAY15: Olay and DAY14: Patience

Image
unexpectedly left my things at the office... laptop, clothes, and other miscellaneous items DAY15: Olay Before I turn twenty four, I thank God for introducing me to Olay. Raul B. or Olay as we fondly call him, is the utility person at our office. He is a bit bading (homosexual) or rather he is really bading, sometimes pamali-mali and he is funny. I am thankful for meeting him because its amazing to see someone as passionate as he is, even though he's just following orders all day long. He's become a regular part of my day: he'd be the first one I'd greet good morning at the office, he'll ask us our orders somewhere in the middle of the day and we'd ask him "Olay ano na ang Olam?" and he'll answer us "Ma'am fried Checkin, Kari-kari and paksew olo". Its sometimes hard to decipher his language.. but we do get by. At noon, he'll serve us our lunch, and he'll tell us his misadventures sometime in the mid afternoon. I...

DAY13: Labor day; DAY12: long and lonely bus rides; DAY11: the Boho/ Forest-ish wedding; DAY10: my college homies

Image
was suffering from bad internet connection and power outages lately... DAY13: Labor Day Thankful for the holiday that was yesterday where I was able to celebrate my second year of being officially a part of the labor force. I also got the chance to sleep-in, do the domestic chores that I like and prepare a little bit for the upcoming transition period. DAY12: Long and lonely bus rides I use these times for thinking, and the long bus ride for this day made me realize that I am not very fond of kids. Two moms with a kid each, that looks like he/she was gonna throw up anytime soon, sat beside me; though the bus was comfortable and air- conditioned, I wasn't able to relax until they got of the bus. I was very wary of the vomit that each child might bring me.  Not that I do not want to have kids in the future, I might not be ready lang for it yet. I am your typical working girl who plays tough on the outside to gain respect and have her subordinates follow he...

DAY9: Overtime

Image
It's rather a boring thankful for item. But, I am thankful really for overtime (see time on the picture). I was able to remove three items from my to-do list and update this blog. During the glory days of our work site, I was able to experience the beautiful things that overtime did to my salary. Though am not experiencing any of that lately, I'd like to be thankful for it (even if its all OTY lately) at least I'm able to compensate for the day's inefficiency.

DAY8: for the opportunity to TEACH; and the continuous dream of doing so...

Image
YAY! Today I am super thankful for the God given opportunity to teach at the Department of Electrical Engineering at UPLB and for giving me dreams of doing it again someday. The Department of Electrical Engineering at UPLB (ahem studied and taught here before) has once again bagged the top spot among all the Electrical Engineering schools in the country. Everyone who came from this school and took the exam this year ( see results of EE board exams here ) passed and three of them got into the top 10 ( see here ). Modesty aside, it is nothing new and surprising. It should actually be not much of a big fuss since the great Department of Electrical Engineering at UPLB has been like doing it for a very long time already. PERO! I was able to handle some of the students in this batch kasi.  It feels nice to see your students do and accomplish great things. Makes the heart grow big and happy. Super proud.. super proud of my students. :) CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW BATCH OF ...

DAY7: freedom

Image
Today I'm choosing to be thankful for FREEDOM. I've recently realized that I do not want to be caged or tied down in any form just yet; this being related to career, and life in general. The only thing that I am holding on steadfastly to is the constant point in the swirling motion of my life. I thank God for giving me the freedom to choose how to live my life. I thank God for the freedom to choose any job to my liking I thank God for the freedom to be who I want to be I thank God for the freedom  to think whatever it is that I want to think I thank God for the freedom to do what I want to do I thank God for the freedom to write silly things I thank God for the freedom to dream of happy endings and to shun away bad ones I thank God for the freedom to love I thank God for giving me the freedom to choose or not choose to follow him... And I am sorry for straying away from my path and being a little bit stubborn at that. But I thank Him for giving me the freedom to m...

DAY6: triple grande cappuccino and oreo cheese cake

Image
Today I'm thankful for the triple grande cappuccino (though not as yummy as the cafe alamid) and  oreo cheese cake that was coupled with catch-up stories. It added flavor to the monotonous day at work.          I also did some stalking on an interesting guy at the coffee shop... other than that, nothing else but work filled my day. ... he was the interesting guy. (stalker mode)

DAY5: Coffee from the cat's ass

Image
Coming to work and going from it today is stressful. I was running late this morning kaya I had no choice but to ride the ordinary bus at the Calamba terminal. Its expected that the summer breeze in these parts of the country are not that pleasant, but I wasn't expecting it to be that awful to the point that I was nursing a splitting headache when I arrived at the office. Now, unfortunately the trip from work was also as bad as the trip to it. Just this morning, there was this riot along Sucat, Road ( see here ) and its effects were still felt until this evening. The traffic was horrible.            One could just imagine the relief I felt after alighting from the vehicle that bore the agony of thine self for one or two hours. Still being a little bit disoriented from the said agony that I was recuperating from, I let my feet drag my body to the nearest lighted establishment which happened to be 7-eleven. Since I di...

DAY3 and DAY4

Image
Day3: Opportunities to Play So it was my first time to go to enchanted kingdom yesterday and I had a blast! It was the greatest company outing to date. I was able to do a lot of things that I used to chicken out to before. It was my first time to ride a small roller coaster (see above) and a big one (Space Shuttle). I honestly thought that the space shuttle is some sort of enclosed space ship thing that is a roller coaster or something. It wasn't until yesterday that I was convinced na it was really just a roller coaster that's insane-er than the other ones. It was my first to ride a Ferris wheel, the Extereme thing, and the Anchor's away. I'd definitely go back to EK to see their fireworks and ride the Grand Carousel and  repeat everything I have ridden yesterday. Day 4:High School mates ganging up for Matet This event is actually still a part of Day3; but, since it ended at 2am in the morning, this is officially Day4. Matet has cancer of the Occipital Lob...

DAY2: an herb pot

Image
This pot of green things made my day today, it broke the predictable monotony of my work day and it has long been a dream (from watching too much cooking shows etc) to have something like this. Even though it was a peculiar payment for an editing stint that I did for my father, this pot made daddy's girl really happy...  I shall name these plants as soon as I get to know them better... Actually the herb pot is just an icing on the cake, I am more thankful for my dad being so agreeable with me lately. I feel spoiled and pampered whenever I go home. This definitely is a perk of being an only child.

30 things before 24. DAY1

Image
I'd be twenty-four years old, thirty days from now. So, instead of creating a bucket list (which I usually do) which is sort of asking God or the people around me to give me the things that I want; and because I am gaya-gaya to Charet ( a high school batchmate) who's doing the same, I would be doing this. For thirty days, starting today, I'd be writing about the things/ people/ whatever that I am currently most thankful for. Currently will mean, adolescence, being single, broke, tired, coming home daily to an empty pad, coming home weekly to LB and dogs, being an only child, wondering and wandering about life and love, stress, work, being stuck in a man's world, yadda yadda yadda. Today, I am thankful for friends at work: I was wondering if I'd be loving this job like this, if I was given a different set of people to work with. I was deeply contemplating if I can separate work and work mates. And boy is it hard to do so, the two seems to go hand in hand.  ...

TWENTY-FIFTY COUNTDOWN

Image
The twenty days- fifty days countdown begins. This is probably gonna be one of the hardest shenanigans that I'll be subjecting myself into. Its gonna be an exciting ride, probably frustrating but hopefully not heart breaking. I should be laying this down on the date provided, and I should do it do it as far as doing it is concerned. This plan should push through regardless of the many things, like schedules, contracts or people, that can change in the course of 50 days. Opportunities may not come  twice, goals should be pursued and dreams should never be put on hold for the sakes of well some people's prodding. Preparations for the date have already commenced. Trips to home are more frequent and intentional to seek after wisdom and advice, to seek solitude and to return to the plans and goals that were set in the beginning. Choosing not to be a push over, choosing to stand up for my own dreams and choosing to find my own voice. Albeit the fact that some good things ...
